Submit a Location
What happens when you are listed in the film database?
- Producers and Location Managers either look in our database online themselves or they contact KC Film Office and we create specialized packages of locations for them to consider.
- When they find something that sparks their interest, my office will contact you (phone or email) to give you a heads up that a producer or location manager wants to reach out to set up a time to ‘scout’ (come see the property).
- After scouting your property, they present all of the possible location options to their director, who may want to have a final scout to confirm for him/herself.
- Final Scout (as needed) – Director, Art Director, Producer, Location Manager
- Tech Scout – Usually close to filming date a walk-through to look for anything they missed before that will help them have a smoother filming day
- If selected, the location fee negotiation is between you (the property owner) and the production and a location agreement is signed – this is provided by the production.
The KC film office will only bring projects to you that are professional, vetted and carry production insurance for their project.
Grateful to have you in our film locations database!

Become a Listed KC Location
To create a location listing you will need to provide the following information:
Information
Contact Information:
This information should be for the owner of the location/property – the person who we would connect with a project’s producer or location manager:
- Name
- Phone Number
- Email Address
Address of Location:
Please list the location’s address, including county.
(Address will not be displayed publicly unless it is a business)
Additional Information:
Website (as applicable)
Facebook page (as applicable)
Description of property (for example – # levels, # rooms, style of property or décor, special features, renovations, etc.)
Photos
Photos of Location:
Please provide digital photos of the location. Cover as much of the property as you can inside and out. To take location photos – cover the entire ‘look’ from exterior to interior making sure the location is ‘in context’ with its surroundings.
For example, if there is a gas station on a corner – the photos would show the street signs, intersection, wide photo of the exterior with the adjacent properties in view as well as photos of the exterior, exterior details and interior photos that give a very good idea of what a production will see if they come to scout.
Sending Photos:
You may use any of the following options to send in photos:
Dropbox
Email (one email, or a series of emails)
